Convert audio

A WAV too big to email, an M4A that will not play in the car? Choose the format you need.

How it works

Convert audio in three steps

  1. Choose your file

Drop an audio file or a video in the box.

  2. Choose the format

MP3, WAV, OGG or M4A, and the quality for the smaller formats.

  3. Convert and download

Spoel reads the file in pieces and writes the new one as it goes, so long recordings work too.

Questions

Good to know

  • Which format is best?

MP3 plays everywhere. M4A (AAC) sounds slightly better at the same size and plays almost everywhere. WAV is lossless but large. OGG (Opus) is small and crisp, but not every older player knows it.

  • Does an MP3 get better if I turn it into a WAV?

No. What was lost when the MP3 was made does not come back. A WAV is handy, though, for further editing without losing any more.

  • Is my file sent anywhere?

No. Converting happens in your browser, on your own device. Nothing goes to a server.
